Love Where You Work

This week I celebrate 5 years with Crossfuze, and as I reflect on my time here, I recognize that I come to work almost every day glad to be here and ready to take on the day.

That is not to say that there are not tough days, or that the stress of what we do is not real in my world, but it is to say that I am thankful to be surrounded by people I genuinely care about on a personal level. Not to mention a leadership team that listens and cares what you think.

There is a feeling of team here, a camaraderie that goes beyond what I have experienced elsewhere in my 32 years in the IT services industry, and while this was not intended to be a “Crossfuze Rah Rah” post, I don’t regret that it comes off that way.

We work hard, we sometimes work long hours, we stress and deal with difficult situations, but that’s the career we chose.

Fact is, we typically spend one-third of every weekday with our business peers, which is often more than with our own families. If you cannot find a way to get joy out of what you do for one-third of every day, it might be time to think about the “why”.

I’m not saying to quit your job and go find some elusive, nirvana company that operates just to make your life better - that doesn’t exist.  I am saying maybe you have the ability to find joy in what you do or to help make someone else happy for a moment.  Kindness, grace and often just a simple genuine compliment can make most days better for most people.

“Joy at work isn’t always something you find—it’s something you help create, one day, one person, one interaction at a time.  Go find your happy place -or go make it.”
